Predicting correct scores in football matches

Empoli faces Genoa at the Stadio Carlo Castellani in a fixture from the 18th round of the Serie A. Just few days after Christmas, these two teams will try to overpower each other. Let’s preview it in our Predicting correct scores in football matches.

Empoli are having a decent season so far as they are currently 11th in the standings with 19 points won. And that’s pretty good – don’t forget that their main goal is to survive and keep their place in the elite division. Empoli have won just one of their last five matches in the league, though – they have to improve that.

Before the Christmas break Empoli suffered a 6th defeat for the campaign. Roberto D’Aversa’s team paid a visit to the leader Atalanta and actually scored twice, but suffered a 2-3 loss. Lorenzo Colombo and Sebastiano Esposito scored for Empoli.

Genoa are still adapting to life with their new head coach Patrick Vieira. In their last game they suffered their first loss with the French manager – 1-2 against Napoli at home. Genoa are now 13th in the standings with 16 points – just three points behind Empoli.

Andrea Pinamonti scored for Genoa against Napoli, but his goal wasn’t enough to secure at least a point for the Grifoni. We don’t expect to see Vieira making many changes in his line-up. What he could eventually do is introduce once again Morten Thorsby in the starting eleven. The Norwegian international started from the bench against Napoli, but now he seems ready to play.

That’s the Predicting correct scores in football matches guide for the upcoming Serie A clash between Empoli and Genoa. These two teams are moving close to each other in the standings, so we expect a pretty good game here. Empoli have the home advantage, but Genoa are progressing well with Patrick Vieira. Let’s see.
